Tag .... I'm It

My darling sister Cori kind of "tagged" us (all her other sisters) for this .... so ....

Little known facts about me: (did you do 7 or 8?)

1. I am NOT a good housekeeper. It's messy a lot, the laundry is NEVER done, and in general, if someone just stopped by, I would be embarrassed. I just can't seem to care about it sometimes. (I am working on this though)

2. Even though I don't keep a perfect house, if the cupboards in the kitchen aren't perfectly organized it kills me. I like the dishes all where they're supposed to be, the labels all out so I can read them, and the silverware neatly in each divider. (Maybe I'm a little obsessive compulsive?)

3. I love to sing as everyone knows, but people don't know that in everyday talking .... I sing a lot of what I say to the girls. Example: "It's time for breakfast" but I would sing it in some sing songy way .... the girls always laugh. I do it most of the time without even realizing it. Sometimes even Brielle and Linzi do it now. (I like that)

4. I am obsessed with shoes. I know it's a female cliche to love shoes, but I just do. I gravitate toward the shoe department in every store, and for some reason, I like expensive shoes more than cheap ones .... they fit better and look "nicer." It's a downfall of mine for sure. (I do have restraint though)

5. When I play the piano, at home just practicing ... or doing prelude .... if I don't play the song perfectly I have to go back and play it again. Sometimes, I make stupid little mistakes, but even then, I have to go back and make it perfect. I just can't get up if I've played it wrong. (see ... obsessive compulsive)

6. I only wash my hair twice a week. Some of you might think that's gross, but my hair is really healthy because of it. (so says the people who cut it) I have really thick hair, so it just doesn't get oily .... and there are some weeks, that I only wash it once.

7. I have sung in front of huge amounts of people, so many times I can't count .... but every time I sing, I still get nervous. And I would be more nervous to sing in front of 10 people than 1000. I think the smaller groups are just so much more intimidating.

8. I am obsessed with talking on the phone. I talk on the phone for hours a day some days. When I'm sitting feeding Kate, I hold the phone in my hand and think of who I can call. (usually Jessica, Cori, my mom, or Siri) Sometimes when I get off the phone after talking to Jessica or Cori, I'll see that it's been 50 or 60 minutes. I can talk on the phone while doing the dishes, or picking up, or cleaning the bathroom, or folding laundry even. I don't know why I love it ... it just makes the time pass I think.

That's it ... now I tag anyone who hasn't done this.

I also love shoes (a lot; must be genetic) organized cupboards, and only wash my hair twice a week; and believe it or not, I sometimes break into song. I love music although I am not talented at music. I have the gift of appreciation for it, but I have to say that I do notice errors like missed notes, or little blubs. And I count everything out, so I can tell when the timing is off. I think I am a good housekeeper although I am not obsessed with it. I think cleanliness is nice, and messiness is a part of being a parent. A person needs to learn tolerance for it. Otherwise, it makes for an unhappy family because kids are messy and relationships matter more. In one of my college classes the instructor talked about how freeing it is to let go of having to have things perfect. She said she let go of her home but maintained control of her desk. Sounds like you have let go but maintain control of your kitchen cupboards. Sounds pretty healthy to me. The telephone? I am not a phone talker but love to hear from my children. I wait for them to call me because I do not want to intrude into their lives or violate their privacy. I believe parents get what their children give to them, and they need to be happy with that. Sometimes parents are too involved, or worse yet, too opinionated. I hope I never do that to any of my children. I also hope to stay in my right mind, but who knows?

I use to talk on the phone while I rolled my hair in perm rods, I couldnt roll it right if I concentrated only on the rods. SO I had to have something else to occupy my mind with. I love your thick hair.

Fun, fun! Thanks for doing it... makes me feel less like a nerd. :) I wish I could only wash my hair twice a week... mine gets too oily. It's that fine hair of mine- a curse, I tell you. this is Cori, by the way... not Andrew.

I am the same way with singing. Although, you hide your nerves much better than I do. I hate singing in front of a small group - I much prefer a large one. And I sing throughout the day to my kids as well. Maybe that is why we get along so well - we are both a couple of songbirds at heart! By the way, you can call me anytime...
