We went to a children's safety fair this morning, in the rain. The girls got new bike helmets, fitted to their heads, they got to talk about the smoke detectors and what to do if they go off at night, they had their faces painted, they saw fire engines, ambulances, a police swat truck, they got a lot of free things which Brielle found especially exciting (pencils, pads of paper, rulers, stickers, magnets, etc...)
The most fun part for them, I think, was getting to go to the Mad Science booth and make putty. I thought of Aunt Karen while we were there. You take white glue, a little water, some paint, and Borax, and stir forever, and you get this sticky putty stuff. The girls liked it, Matt and I were less than thrilled, but we tried to not spoil their fun.
We went for just the helmets ... but ended up staying way longer than we had planned (of course, that always happens). And, of course, I forgot to bring my camera to the actual event, so when we came home I took these pictures of the girls playing with their putty. Kate didn't get to do much, but was happy to be eating.

I should have gone. Kimber (who is 2) well and Bridger, have HUGE heads. We bought her a helmet last year for 5 to 8 year olds and it doesnt fit this year anymore.boo hoo. Hope her head is full of brains. hehe
This sounds like a wonderful event to attend with children. I'm glad you all went. Kate's teeth are starting to match! She had kind of a jack o'lantern look with that one front tooth.
Kate's hair is getting so long! She sure is a cutie!
I wish they did that here and gave away helmets... Callie probably needs one sometime in the next year and because Alexa's was given to us by someone else, I have NO idea what I'm looking for. I suppose it can't be too hard, right?
I've made that exact recipe of goo for my class before. We used it as magma in our volcanoes. Its viscosity changes when it is heated. Also it stains like nobody’s business, so watch out. How fun! Free helmets is a wonderful perk. I have no idea if my helmet fits right—but I stick it on and try not to fall off.
