We were driving around Lacey yesterday and saw this sign. Now, it wasn't just this one, the neighborhood had probably 7 of these "speed hump" signs.
Generally, you see signs like these, but they say "speed bump."
The reason we found this odd, is because a few years ago, we were driving around downtown Puyallup and saw some speed hump signs, they were brand new. A few weeks later, we were driving in the same neighborhood, and the signs had been altered to have a sticker (the same exact color as the sign) put over the word "hump" to say instead, "bump." So people in downtown Puyallup had a problem with the word hump, but not bump. Interesting.
In general, I just think it's odd that these kinds of things aren't kept all the same. You'd think all signs like these would say either hump or all would say bump; not both. I wonder how a city chooses which phrase they'll use. Maybe the speed hump signs were on sale.

Maybe somebody made a mistake. Edgewood had different city signs when they started out. I guess someone didn't like them. It probably represents one of those areas of government waste.
They call them speed humps in New Zealand. And light bulbs are called light globes.
