The Unthinkable Has Happened ...

And no, I'm not talking about Michael Jackson.

Kate cut her hair.

Last night the big girls were pretending to cut each other's hair upstairs in their room apparently (don't get me started on that ... or the fact that there were scissors down low enough for Kate to get a hold of) ... Brielle brings Kate down and says "Kate cut her hair!" I look and realize she really did cut her hair and say, "AAAAAAHHHHHHH." Then Kate begins to cry, Brielle says she can't handle all this pressure, and I proceed to survey the damage. (It really was quite the scene ... very dramatic)
Right in the front of her head, she has cut the hair, leaving maybe 1 inch of hair ... in some spots maybe 2.

As I pull the shorn hair from her head, I look and realize her hair is no longer the perfect little girl coiffure. It is spikey and short in the front, and long in the back (although it may sound mullet-esque ... it is not that short in the front thankfully).

The only saving grace is the fact that her other hair is long, and can be combed over to hide the short pieces.

Now, it looks worse in person of course, but this is it ... see how in the front in the middle of her head it's shorter? *tear*

Mama Saw the Doctor, Week 30

Same old, same old. Every thing's normal ... I'm measuring right on this week. Blah, blah, blah ...

I go back in 2 weeks.

(I am grateful for the "ease" of this pregnancy and the lack of complications ...)

Look At My Baby Countdown ...

I'm 30 weeks today!!!

(for some reason this number is a milestone to me and it is VERY exciting!)

Baseball Game Pictures

These are from Friday's game.
This was the day before Brielle's birthday, so Matt's parents put her name up on the reader board ...

Brielle didn't want to be "bored" so she brought something to do.

One Thing Down ...

So I have had the things I've been collecting for Quinn sitting in my dining room for several months ... in a couple bins and then overflowing on top of the bin. It has been a little unsightly, as you can imagine ... not very dining roomy. We just haven't had anywhere to put it all ... when you have another baby, you need another dresser or somewhere to put the clothes and blankets and things. That has always been the "problem" with each new addition. (we're pretty maxed out here on space obviously.)

So last night I cleaned out my closet and created space for Matt to build shelves (I have a pretty good sized closet for a 90 year old house). He came home from work, went to Home Depot and then came back and voila - a lovely space for Quinn's things.

Needless to say I got right on that. I went through everything, washed all the 0-3 month sized things I have, and the burp cloths and blankets, and then put it together.

I am happy with the result ... a slightly cleaner dining room ... a slightly organized closet ... and a baby who will have clean clothes to wear whenever he decides to come. (we do have 2 months left I realize)

That's one thing on my list that gets checked off ... (don't worry, there are still MANY more things to do)

Phew.

We had a big busy weekend. Friday night was a baseball game with Matt's parents. The girls had a good time and the fireworks were nice (and loud ... Kate made me cover her ears).
Saturday was Brielle's 9th birthday! She was so excited, opened all her presents with the highest level of enthusiasm, and we had a little birthday/father's day party at my mom's house for her in the evening. Earlier in the day we took her to Target to spend some money she had received, and she bought the Disney Playlist cd, which has been played thoroughly since then. It was all very exciting.
And then yesterday, of course, was Father's day. I got up early and made the coffee cake Matt wanted, and he opened all his gifts from the girls (instead of one big thing this year, we each got him something individually, which they LOVED). It was nice. We went to church, came home and had grilled chicken and cake ... I think it was a good day. (minus the thunder storm we had while we were outside cooking the chicken ... it seriously poured and the sky was grey and the thunder was VERY loud.)

Now we have our first week of summer vacation. I told the girls by Friday our house should be spotless. I wonder if that will actually happen?

Oh Baby

Oh baby of mine
my tummy's immense
from carrying your body
it's really intense
the kicking and squirming
your hiccuping too
causes quite a commotion
if you only knew
the pains that I'm having
because you are in me
it hurts to bend over
and to simply just "be"
but something about you
sweet baby of mine
makes it all seem worthwhile
even when I do whine
The kicks to the ribs
and hips that are slipping
the balance I'm losing
and times I am tripping
just make me remember
you're growing within
and I have to confess
I just want to grin
when I think about all of your
littleness in there
I realize the miracle
nothing else can compare
so I suppose that the agony
I have to endure
is totally worth it
I'm one hundred percent sure
(I think)
(just kidding)

Just Because

Aren't they sweet?
Tessa's looking better, right?

Mama Saw the Doctor and Much Much More

We've had a busy week. Matt turned 34. He and I went out to dinner and to a movie, which was nice. Thanks Aunt Karen for watching the girls. (we saw Star Trek which we both actually liked ... I wasn't expecting that)

I had my 28 week checkup this week also ... I had normal blood pressure, gained a pound, measured just a tiny bit small (which I found to be shocking) .... I took the glucose test (drinking that sugary drink and then a blood draw) which I won't find out about until next week, and that was basically it. Pretty standard stuff ... I go back in 2 weeks.

The next night we had our very first, probably in a LONG line of many, Daddy Daughter Dinner. Matt and Brielle got dressed up and went to church for a dinner and some dancing. Brielle was thrilled. She came back with a bouquet of flowers and a big smile on her face.

The next day Linzi and I went on a field trip with her class. (sorry, no pictures ... ) We went to the state history museum, which was quite crowded with children the week before the end of school. Linzi and I had a nice time though, and we survived ... which was good. Matt took the day off and watched the little girls so I could go. Thanks Matt.

Matt also finished the never ending side job last night. We are both thrilled about that. It has taken many months, much longer than anticipated. He's been gone evenings FOREVER it seems. I am glad it's over, and I know he is too.

Well ... It Happened.

I got my new calling.

Activities Committee.

Need I say more? The bishop did say last week that one would probably be called to an area where they needed to work on ... it hasn't been a huge secret that I am not the biggest fan of ward pot lucks or things like that. (although I do realize this is perfect for having a new baby ... won't have to worry about getting subs for a Sunday calling. I guess I'll have to get excited about ward activities; something I needed to learn. And I like the woman who is in charge of the activities, so that's something.)

Matt is still calling free for the moment.

That Face ...

...You gotta love it! The bruises are looking so much better. Tessa went to church yesterday, the baseball game on Friday, and so she's finally been out. I'm glad it's almost gone. That was quite the black eye/bruised face.

Yesterday was my sister Cori's 30th birthday ... She has her new baby Quinten and now has turned 30 ... it's been a big couple weeks for her! Hope you had a really great day Cori!!!

Tomorrow is Matt's 34th birthday. When we met he was 22 ... now he is going to be 34. Time sure flies when you're having kids and a crazy life! It's hard to believe it's been that long, and then sometimes it feels like we've always just been together. (I guess that is what happens when you're having fun.)

This week is a busy week, next week is the last week of school, then we have Brielle's birthday and Father's day ... after that only a little bit of time until Cori and her family come for July ... then we do our beach vacation and it's August. August is the exciting month that Quinn will come ... I think it's all going to go really fast.
It's hard to believe that summer is already here.

1st and 3rd

Brielle and Linzi's class pictures ... Linzi in 1st grade. Brielle in 3rd.
(click on the pictures to make them larger.)
Doesn't it bring back fond memories of class pictures from year's past? (or not so fond ... especially in the fashion arena)

One Week Later

She's looking better. It's still hot. (90 degrees ... *sigh*) We're doing well.

Another Day

It's hot. It usually isn't this hot here except for a couple weeks during the summer. I decided last night that I actually can melt, and will be doing so again, later today. When we don't have a perfectly air conditioned house, above 90 degrees is pretty unbearable; especially being pregnant ... which means I'm an incubator anyway. We do have an air conditioner in the living room, so I think today I'll be turning that on.

I do love the nice weather though, just not THIS nice. (mid 70s is perfect for me I think)

Tessa looks about the same ... maybe a little more yellow.

The girls only have 2 more weeks of school left. Yay!!
We have been staying home because of Tessa's face ... I could take her out I suppose, but I decided that I wanted it to look a little less shocking so we wouldn't get as many suspecting looks and stares. You know?
So for now, we're all just melting away in our hot house. (at least it's great for the plants ... strawberries and tomatoes are looking good!!)

A Face Only a Mother Could Love

Ok, well that's probably not true. (I think everyone would love her face)
It is healing though ... in person it looks less swollen and more yellowish around the edges. (which is always a good sign for a bruise) Around her eye is a little less dark.
In general, it still looks pretty bad, so I am wondering when it will be gone. A few weeks?
She's happy and normal as ever though, and hasn't woken up with swelling 2 days in a row now.

Book Review: Just One Wish

This is the same author of My Fair Godmother that I reviewed HERE.

Here is the review off of Amazon ...

"From Booklist Rallison has become known for her girls’ sports fiction, with light, breezy tones, sometimes didactic messages, and satisfying happy endings. Here she deviates from this formula, as 17-year-old Annika tries desperately to get TV-star Steve Raleigh, of Teen Robin Hood fame, to visit her six-year-old brother, Jeremy, before the brain-tumor surgery that may or may not save his life. Despite the circumstances, madcap adventures abound: Annika’s attempts to infiltrate the Burbank studio set during the filming of the show, disguised as an animal handler with a huge snake, are predictable but delightful. Her initial reaction to Steve is distaste and disgust—which means that soon enough they are a romantic item. However, what drives this story is not their romance, but rather Annika’s love for her little brother and the courage she displays as she tries to save him. The sibling relationship between Annika and Jeremy is both believable and heartrending—get out your handkerchiefs! Grades 7-11. --Debbie Carton"

I thought it was cute. It's definitely recommendable for a quick easy read.

Another Quilt for Quinn

I finished this one last week ... for some reason I'm just having too much fun doing boy stuff!!

I'm Excited

But then I loved the books, so I would be.

Day 4 of the Quick Healer

She looks much better today. The swelling has gone down a ton and the bruising already looks lighter. She has been acting so normal, so I feel like it's going to be fine.

Here's to quick healing. (although I do realize it still looks awful. We're trying to be optimistic here.)
